Walter Morris Everton, 90, of Evanston, passed away on Aug. 1. He was surrounded by loved ones in his home.

He was born on Nov. 8, 1934, in Logan, Utah. Walter enlisted in the Army in 1953 as a paratrooper. He was training to fight in the Korean War.

June 6, 1955, he married his sweetheart, Jane Mathews, in the Logan Temple. They were blessed with seven children and had been happily married for 70 years.

Walt and Jane lived in Evanston for the past 40 years. Walter owned his own business, Quality Engraving and Locksmith. He was always kind and friendly. He unlocked many a vehicle and home for free when he saw the need. He never turned anyone down. He always treated others with love and respect.

Walter was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He bore his testimony of Jesus Christ daily through his actions and service to others. He enjoyed serving as a Boy Scout leader. He donated his time and resources engraving plaques, name plates and name tags for missionaries, Boy Scouts and school organizations.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; children, Linda Scadden (Duane), Ruth Clark (Dave), Richard Everton (Tammy), Michael Everton (Sandee), Tamra Nedeau (Steve), Daniel Everton and Angela Villalobos (Rich); his brother, Thomas Everton; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Bear Ponds Pavilion. A memorial service will be held from 1 to 1:30 p.m. for those who were close to Walt. An open house will be held immediately following, from 1:30-3 p.m. Everyone who loved Walt is welcome to attend.
