Roland Dale Holgate Jr., lovingly known as Dale, passed away at home on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, at the age of 72, after recently being diagnosed with stomach cancer.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 30, 1954, Dale built a life centered around family, hard work and the simple things that brought him happiness. He was a loving husband, dad, son, brother and friend whose presence and laughter will be deeply missed.
Dale owned and operated Uinta Construction, where he had the special opportunity to work alongside both his dad and his son. Together, they built businesses and several homes throughout Evanston. Dale took great pride in his work, and there is something meaningful knowing that what he created still stands.
Dale loved the outdoors, especially snowmobiling and spending time working in his yard. With his care and hard work, he created a beautiful oasis, where he and his wife, Nancy, could relax and enjoy their time together.
Dale is survived by his wife, Nancy Holgate; his son, Jodi Holgate; his daughter, Danae Hansen; Nancy’s daughter, Jennifer Connor; his mother, Jan Henrikson; his brothers, Steve (Teresa) and Danny; and his sisters, Salena (Mike Dorner) and Tina (Mitch Velarde).
He was preceded in death by his father, Roland; his brother, Tim; and his sisters, Becky and Sheila.
Dale’s time with us ended much sooner than anyone was prepared for. He will be remembered for the life he lived, the things he built, the home he loved, the adventures he enjoyed, his laughter, and most of all, his love for the people who meant so much to him.
Dale was deeply loved and will be missed more than words can say. His memory will remain with us always.
Services will be held at Crossroads Church on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m.
