Vernon Charles Langford passed away peacefully at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, after a battle with stage four lung cancer. Vern was born to Archie and Corinne Langford on Sept. 24, 1945, in Fairmont, Minnesota.
Vern honorably served his country for two years in the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam War.
Vern married Connie Hjelmtveit Jackson and had three sons: Quincy, Heath, and BJ. They later divorced.
Our dad was very good with woodworking and loved to build things. He enjoyed landscaping and fixing stuff. He was a great mechanic and loved to work on cars. He loved to play cards, drink a nice cup of coffee on the front porch in the morning sun and a cold beer on the back patio in the shade.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing and playing poker with his friends.
Our dad was a simple man, but he was very proud of his boys and grandkids.
Dad worked in the oil and gas industry for 28 years. He made many lifelong friends and was a mentor to many.
Vern is survived by his three sons: Quincy (Cheryl) Langford and their daughter Haley (Chance) Overy; Heath (Mandi) Langford and their boys, Tristen, Tage, Kayson and Kail; BJ (Angie) Langford and their sons, Christian and Sander; and Christian’s daughter, Sophie.
He is also survived by his siblings, Ed, Norm, Carol, George and Mary.
Dad is preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Corinne Langford.
We would like to thank the SOS team and the many doctors and nurses at the Huntsman Cancer Institute who cared for and comforted our dad in his last days. They did a flag procession in the hall to honor him as a veteran.
Our dad chose to be cremated and have his ashes spread in the Bear River during spring runoff. He chose not to have any services in his honor.
