Thomas Landen “Lanny” Bergen passed away peacefully at his parent’s home in Evanston, on Thursday, July 13.

Lanny was born on June 7, 1969, in Provo, Utah, and lived the majority of his life in Wyoming. He graduated from Evanston High School in 1987. He was employed in the oilfield and construction industries and had the opportunity to work in Kazakhstan.

Lanny provided the people he supervised with an opportunity to learn the trade so they could support their families, and many noted how kind, giving and supportive he was.

Lanny loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding his motorcycle and four-wheeler. He also loved golfing and spending time with his dogs. He was a talented artist; specifically creating charcoal and pencil drawings and wood carvings. He was known for his scrimshaw carvings on oilfield workers’ hardhats.

Lanny married Heather Wallcek. They later divorced but were blessed with two beautiful daughters.

He is survived by his parents, Brent and Judy Bergen; daughters, Alec (Spencer Johns) and Hailey (Johnathan Hampton); grandchildren, Payton, Paisley, Kash, Jaxon and Brooklyn; siblings Troy, Kevin, Shane, Bryce and Shae; as well as many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. Mose and Lucile Reese, Jay Delore and Margaret Bergen; and aunts, Susan Reese and Jean Bergen.

A celebration of life will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the Bear Ponds Pavilion, 75 Bear River Dr., Evanston. Dress is casual. Condolences may be made at www.crandallfh.com.
