Roger Eugene Cox, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Monday, Feb. 24, in Evanston. He was born in Sheridan, and later moved to Thermopolis, where he graduated from high school.
Roger developed a deep love for the outdoors, which remained a lifelong passion.
Roger was known for his attention to detail, quiet wisdom, and calming presence. He was a man of few words, though he could be quite charismatic when needed.
Roger served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States. His career spanned both finance and healthcare. He retired from the State Hospital in Evanston and served as vice president at 1st Wyoming Bank in Cody. Roger also served in the Riverton police reserve.
An avid gunsmith, Roger contributed to the development of the Cody Shooting Complex. He had a bit of a daredevil side and enjoyed motorcycles, woodworking, hunting and fishing. Above all, his family was the center of his life.
Roger is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bonnie; children Roger (Andrea) Cox, Allison (Steve) Capps, Michael (Tonya) Cox, Kristina (Daniel) Brownell and Joline (Ty) Belnap; 20 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Glen; and grandson, Trevor.
Roger will be cremated under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home of Evanston.
