Mary Jane Cook, age 79, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 9. She was born Aug. 3, 1946, in Ogden, Utah, to Elwood and Mary Smith.
On July 29, 1966, she married Jon Cook. They had one daughter, Lisa. They later divorced, but remained best friends until Jon’s passing in 2018.
Mary Jane spent many years working with flowers — a job she loved. She was grateful for her loyal customers and the lasting friendships that were made.
She loved spending time with her family and had an enormous amount of pride for her grandsons, Nico and Vinny. Full of love, laughter, and compassion, she touched the lives of all who knew her.
Mary Jane is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Anthony Elardi; and her grandsons, Nico and Vincent.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Harold (Pee Wee) Smith; and her sister, Nina Earll.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, at the Union Presbyterian Church in Evanston. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Bear Pond Pavilion.
