David Allen Rees, 45, died tragically in a four-wheeler accident Sunday, July 2.
Rees was born Nov. 12, 1977, in Ogden, Utah, to William Allen Rees and Vicky Karen Rosser. He was raised in Bridger Valley.
In his high school years, Rees played various sports and participated in high school rodeos. At that time, he was an avid team roper. He won many belt buckles and a little bit of money.
Rees graduated from Mountain View High School in 1996. After high school, he worked various jobs in Bridger Valley, Logan, Utah; and Torrington. While in Torrington, he met the love of his life, Kelly Griffin. They were married in May 2000. David and Kelly were blessed with two sons, Peyton and Paxton Rees. He was a devoted husband and proud father.
Even though Rees participated in many sports, baseball was his passion. He coached Little League, Babe Ruth and Senior Babe Ruth. Some of his players went on to play college baseball, including both of his sons.
Rees had a very strong work ethic that he passed along to his sons. Both of his sons worked very hard to achieve success.
Rees worked as a rancher alongside his in-laws, John and Darla Griffin. At the time of his death, he was employed at 71 Construction as a welder and heavy equipment operator in Riverton.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vicky Karen Rosser; stepbrother, Kody Lee Kissling; grandparents, William J (Billy) and Joy Rees; and on his in-laws’ side, Bill Bates and Herchel Griffin.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly; sons, Peyton and Paxton Rees; Peyton’s girlfriend, Ashylynne Copinga; in-laws, John and Darla Griffin; parents, Allen and Ruth Rees; brother, Jake and wife Chris Rees; nephew, Jackson; niece, Olivia Rees; stepsister, Kandy Kissling; half-brother, Bill Rommero; half-sisters, Ronnie, Becky, Michelle and Marianne; as well as numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Memorial services were at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, at the Lions Shelter City Park, 405 Fremont St., in Lander.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, at the Allen and Ruth Rees Ranch, 1285 County Road 219, Fort Bridger.
