Alice Eula Pogue returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Saturday, Aug. 19, surrounded by family at her residence in Evanston. Alice was born on May 12, 1932, in Tyler, Texas, to William Nathan and Aseline Blanche (Granger) Thompson.

She enjoyed embroidering tea towels, aprons, pillowcases and, especially, baby quilts for all the babies in her life. The thing she loved most was spending time with family and friends.

She was a ray of sunshine to all who crossed her path, whether it be family and friends or random people she met while in line at the grocery store. We will all miss her smiles and words of encouragement and wisdom.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, William N. and Aseline B.; brothers, Berthorn, Adrian and Cuddy; sisters, Winnie, Evelyn, Estell, Inez and Ruby; son, Grant; daughters, Lucinda, Eugena and Sandra; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She is survived by her children, Ava (Keith) Larsen, Ephraim (Cindy) Gillette, Ben (Wanda) Gillette, Michael (Christine Moffett) Gillette and Winona Nancy Vigil; her sister, Shirley Sazbo; 31 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Almy Ward, 251 Elm St. in Evanston, on Saturday, Sept. 9, in the Relief Society room from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral will be held in the chapel from 11 a.m. to noon.
