Dorothy Argyle Tingey, age 82, of Woodruff, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Saturday June 20.
Dorothy was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and great-grandmother and a friend to everyone. Her family was her greatest treasure. She worked tirelessly to make everyone feel welcome, accepted and loved on every occasion.
She was born on Jan. 30, 1944, to Von and Lois Argyle of Randolph, Utah. Growing up she was very active and successful in school and was a part of the cheerleading team for South Rich High School. She fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Wesley Tingey, very early and they were married shortly after graduation on July 20, 1962.
They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 13, 1966. Wes and Dorothy were married for 57 years.
Dorothy, with her husband Wes, successfully operated several businesses together, including T7 Propane, which operates in three states; Tingey Double T Ranch; and the Woodruff Corner Store. She navigated the ups and downs of these enterprises quietly and usually in the background, making sure everyone had what they needed to operate successfully.
She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in multiple positions, including Young Women’s president, Girls’ Camp leader, Sunday School teacher, Primary callings, and in the presidency of the Relief Society.
She was respected and greatly loved by those she served and served with.
Dorothy is survived by five of her seven children: Darrin Tingey (Tonya Goff), Sharilyn Tingey Hobbs, Karilee Tingey Mendel (Ryan Mendel), Alisa Tingey Webb (Jon Webb) and Ty Tingey; 29 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Von and Lois Argyle; her brother, Ross Argyle; her husband, Wesley Robert Tingey; her sons, Shawn Tingey and Brian Tingey; and her grandson, Erik Tingey.
She will be forever missed, but her love and efforts to make everyone feel loved and accepted will not be forgotten.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, at the Woodruff LDS church. A viewing will be 6-8 p.m. on Friday, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Burial will be in the Woodruff Cemetery.
