The Evanston Legion A baseball team has its record back over .500 following the 4th of July weekend, posting a 3-1 record during its most recent road swing.

The Outlaws (19-18) split a day/night conference doubleheader at Green River on Wednesday, July 5, dropping the first game 14-13, but winning the nightcap 7-6. That was followed by a sweep at Rawlins Friday, 14-7 and 8-1.

The Boys of Post 41 are back home at Ross Kesterson Field Wednesday, hosting a doubleheader against Green River; they’ll travel to Rock Springs Thursday for a game against the Stallions.

Green River 14,

Outlaws 13

In game one of Wednesday’s day/night doubleheader at Green River, the Outlaws pounded out 13 hits and led late, though the home team plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh to squeak out the 14-13 win.

Walker Wilson started on the bump for the Outlaws, giving up nine runs on five hits (five earned) over four innings, striking out four. Damian Kamen pitched two-and-a-third innings in relief and was saddled with the loss, allowing five runs on five hits and striking out three.

At the plate, Walker Wilson, Gavin Oliver, Braxton Bauer and Brodee Clifton collected two hits apiece, with Oliver driving in a pair of runs. Ryder Wilson, Ryan Hoover, Jacson Osborne, Brecken Rich and Kaman each had a hit, with Kaman hitting a double and driving in three runs; Rich also doubled for his only hit.

Green River 6

The Outlaws earned a measure of revenge in Wednesday’s nightcap, overcoming a 5-run, first inning deficit to clip Green River at the finish line, 7-6.

Outlaws starting pitcher Brecken Rich shook off a disastrous first inning to pick up his fourth win of the season, allowing six runs on eight hits in five innings of work, striking out seven. Gavin Oliver picked up his third save of the season, allowing no runs on two hits and striking out four.

Rich helped his own cause at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBI. Brodee Clifton and Ryker Wilson also went 2-for-4, with Clifton smacking a double; Jacson Osborne, Braxton Bauer and Damian Kaman had a hit apiece, with Bauer knocking in a pair of runs.

Rawlins 7

Powered by 11 hits – including Jacson Osborne’s 3-for-5, 4 RBI performance – the Outlaws won game one of Friday’s doubleheader at Rawlins, 14-7.

Ryan Hoover picked up his third win of the season on the mound for Evanston, giving up five runs on seven hits (three earned) over four innings, striking out seven. Osborne pitched three innings in relief, allowing just two runs on two hits and striking out five.

Ryder Wilson, Braxton Bauer and Damian Kaman collected two hits apiece in the contest, with Bauer driving in a pair of runs. Gavin Oliver and Ryan Hoover each had a hit, with Oliver smacking a triple; Hoover knocked in a run and scored twice.

Rawlins 1

Outlaws pitchers Braxton Bauer and Gavin Oliver combined to throw a two hitter – with Bauer picking up the win – as Evanston completed the sweep of Rawlins Friday with an 8-1 win.

Bauer allowed just one unearned run on one hit over three innings, striking out five in the winning effort; Oliver allowed no runs on just one hit, also striking out five.

The Outlaws cranked out nine hits in the contest, led by two hits apiece from Oliver, Ryan Hoover and Jacson Osborne; Oliver and Osborne both doubled, with Oliver driving in a team-high three runs, while Osborne knocked in two. Ryder Wilson, Walker Wilson and Braxton Bauer rounded out the hitting with one each; Bauer and Ryder Wilson each knocked in a run.
