Obituary: Susan passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024. Sue was born July 14, 1939 in Salt Lake City to William Frederick (Bill) Carruth and Sarah Dawn (Dee) Whitney. She and her younger sister Karen (Mike) Calvert spent much of their childhood in the home of their grandparents Fred Carruth and Ethel (Essie) Thomas. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and her ancestors crossed the plains as pioneers in the 1850’s first settling in Salt Lake City and Coalville, Utah. She fell in love with horses at age 8, spent many days exploring the country on horseback with her friends, and participated in barrel racing. She spent summers with her dad as he built bridges in remote areas. After graduating from Evanston High School, she attended Pepperdine University in California. She married Jimmie LeRoy (Jim) Henderson, and loved him so much she married him twice, first in Fillmore, Utah on Oct 11, 1958 without telling their families, and then again on June 20, 1959 in Evanston, Wyoming at the home of her grandmother. Following the marriage they settled in Salt Lake City where she graduated from Heneger's Business College. Sue worked at the Strevell and Patterson Company in the financial department. They moved to Laramie so Jim could complete his degree from the University of Wyoming. While there they had their first child James Mark (Mark) and following Jim’s graduation they spent the summer with her grandmother and then moved to California where they had their second son William Bradley (Brad). In fall of 1974 the family returned to Evanston. There they added two additional children Bryan Frederick and Jamie Susan. Sue was actively involved in the Evanston community and worked at a variety of places including The Chamber of Commerce, Eliza Doolittles, and Purple Sage Golf Course. They purchased land and eventually put a home at the foot of the Uinta Mountains and spent many days camping, hiking, and enjoying the outdoors. Sue adored all animals, including all the well-loved dogs in the family that accompanied her on walks in the country. She had many wonderful traveling adventures with her many friends. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies including snowmobiling, waterskiing, bowling, snowskiing, tennis, river rafting, golfing and horseshoes. Sue loved spending time with her grandchildren and dedicated a wall in her home with pictures of them. She often spent time with each teaching them to love the outdoors. Sue was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jim. She is survived by her sons: Mark (Kim), Brad (Connie), and Bryan (Melanie) Henderson and her daughter Jamie, grandchildren: Kristin Robinson, Nathan, Will, Jordan, Cassidy, Brayden Henderson and Lee French, great grandchildren: Caroline, Audrey and Mia Robinson, and her sister Karen Carruth Calvert.
