Posted

Joette Crook Thomson, 83, of Randolph, Utah, graduated from this life on January 24, in Evanston. She is the beloved wife of Glen Hatch Thomson. Joette was born May 11, 1934, in Afton. She is the daughter of the late Emmett and Rowena Crook.

Joette grew up in Evanston. In high school, she was a cheerleader for four years, the Homecoming Queen of 1952, and was on a tumbling team. She was a proud Red Devil!

Mother went on to study at Brigham Young University; she took tailoring classes and received many awards for her sewing talent.

Joette met Glen in 1954, just before he left on an LDS mission. They wrote each other for two years. Upon his return, they were sealed Oct. 4, 1956, in the Logan LDS Temple. After returning from their honeymoon, Glen had a draft call to serve in the U.S. Army. They spent the next two years in Frankfurt, Germany, where their first son was born.

Joette was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life. She served faithfully in every auxiliary of the church — Primary president and teacher, MIA president and teacher, Relief Society counselor and visiting teacher, she was also an ordinance worker in the Ogden LDS Temple.

After her children were raised, Mother drove a school bus and worked as a janitor for the school district. Mother was a wonderful homemaker, cook, and she was always sewing something. She was generous, kind, loving and always putting others first.

Joette is the proud mother of six children, G. Bradley (Becky) Thomson of Layton, Utah; Detina (Glen) Peel of Mt. Pleasant, Utah;  Kristeen (Mark) Day of Evanston;  Renae (Patrick) Barker of Randolph, Utah;  Brent C. (Isabel) Thomson of West Valley City, Utah; H. Bryan (Becky) Thomson of Randolph, Utah. She also has 22 grandchildren, and 23.5 great-grandchildren.
