Jeffery Scott Carlton of Kingman, Arizona, died in a head-on collision on Jan. 20. A celebration of life will be on Friday, Sept. 1, at the Beeman-Cashin Building in Evanston. He was 75.

Jeff was the son of Harry and Helen (Crompton) Carlton of Evanston, and was born on Nov. 9, 1947. After graduating from high school in 1966, he attended the University of Wyoming. He was then commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army as a Ranger.

Jeff established his surveying business in Evanston, then moved to Arizona in 1986, and his business was registered in six other states.

Jeff was an active member of Kingman Masonic Lodge No. 22, serving as Arizona’s state presiding officer, grand master, in 2012-13. He was awarded the honorary 33rd degree in Scottish Rite Masonry in 2018. Jeff was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Evanston Masonic Lodge.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Moira (Smith); sons, Guy, Travis, Johnathan (Ashley Solomon) and Ray; brother, John (Janet Smith); sister, Jane (Bill) Law; and granddaughters, Ella, Madeline, Miriam and Ayla. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jim.
