Ferd Christiansen Aug. 23, 1927 – April 29, 2025

Ferd Christiansen died peacefully at his home in Piedmont on Tuesday, April 29. Ferd was born Aug. 23, 1927, in Monroe, Utah, to Godfred Elvin and Louise (Bown) Christiansen. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Ferd was the youngest of four boys. He attended school in Utah and graduated from Evanston High School in 1945.  After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the USS Mattabesset, stationed in San Diego, California.   

On Oct. 9, 1949, he married Lois Guild in Evanston. They had four sons.

During his lifetime, Ferd worked for the Wyoming State Highway Department and eventually became co-owner/operator of Guild Ranch in Piedmont. After selling the ranch, Lois and Ferd continued to live in Piedmont. 

Ferd was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending local sporting events and the Evanston Cowoby Days rodeo. He participated in recreational basketball and baseball leagues. He also enjoyed hunting with his friends and family, playing horseshoes, attending local dances and riding his motorcycle.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, LaMoine, Keith and Chester (Chris); his son, Curtis; daughter-in-law, Yolonda; and one great-granddaughter. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Lois; sons, Scott, Terry (Doreen) and Kip (Julie); five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.   

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, at the Hilliard LDS Chapel. Visitation was from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment followed at the Evanston City Cemetery.
