Danae Maree Mayer, age 71, died on Feb. 21, in Heber City, Utah, at Spring Gardens. She was born on June 7, 1951, in Cody, the daughter of Joyce and Ralph Mayer, who have both passed on.

Danae graduated from Cody High School in 1969 and moved to Iowa briefly before returning to Cody.

She worked as a legal secretary in Cody, then later in Casper as a legal secretary, Gillette as a coal miner, and a brief spell in Bakersfield, California, with her second husband Jim Hoffman.

After divorcing Hoffman, Danae returned to Wyoming, settling in Evanston in 1994.

In Evanston, she made many friends working at the Wyoming State Hospital, YAHA and around town as secretary, occupational rehabilitation and child development specialist, and had training toward a nursing certificate.

Quick-witted and insightful, Danae was always available to help a friend in need.

Danae is survived by her son, Richard Ralph Ames (Amy Briggs); and two grandchildren, Nick and Allison, who live in California. Other survivors include her two brothers and their families: William Mayer of Laurel, Montana; and Mitchell Mayer of Evanston.

A celebration of life will be held in Evanston, on Saturday, Aug. 12.
