William Edward “Casey” Boyle passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by loved ones on Friday, March 17. A private family and close friends memorial will occur in the near future.
Casey was born on Sept. 4, 1952, to William H. Boyle and Eleanore S. Boyle in Pueblo, Colorado. Casey’s family soon moved to Cheyenne. Although born in Colorado, Casey was proud to identify as a Wyomingite. He attended and graduated from East High School in Cheyenne, where he was an avid athlete, competing in swimming and diving.
Casey attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie. There he met Pamela Christensen, his future wife of 27 years. Pam and Casey were married in May 1979. Together, they lived in Laramie, Rawlins and Evanston, where they both coached all levels and ages of swimming and diving.
Casey and Pam had a daughter, Christen S. Boyle, in August of 1981.
In his 45 years of teaching and coaching, Casey made an incredible impact on hundreds of high school students and student-athletes. He coached two All-American athletes and was voted by his peers “Coach (diving) of the Year” several times.
After retiring from teaching, Casey moved to Driggs, Idaho, continued to enjoy his favorite outdoor activities and continued coaching in Jackson.
Casey is preceded in death by his parents, William and Eleanore Boyle.
Casey is survived by sister, Patricia E. Boyle; and daughter and son-in-law, Shea Boyle and Scott Miller.
