EVANSTON — The Evanston Police Department responded to the Pilot on Friday, April 28. A truck stop employee called the police for a welfare check because a truck had been there for two days with the driver slumped over.
Upon arriving at the Pilot, police discovered that the driver had passed away.
Lt. Ken Pearson said the driver had last picked up a load on April 26, but there were no records in his logbook indicating he had arrived in Evanston.
He added that the man’s daughter had called Pilot and asked them to check their parking lot for her father’s truck.
Lt. Rhett Groll said the Oklahoma man had a few medical issues, and police believe he died of natural causes.
