EVANSTON — Two Union Pacific Railroad train cars derailed in Evanston Sunday morning, Jan. 12. The Uinta County Herald received an anonymous tip regarding the derailment within the city limits. On Monday morning, the Herald was able to reach Jill Micek, manager of communications and public relations for Union Pacific.
“At about 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, two empty Union Pacific rail cars derailed in Evanston, north of the intersection of Front and Main streets,” Micek said. “There were no injuries or releases. The two derailed cars have (since) been cleared and traffic on the track resumed yesterday (Sunday) afternoon.”
Micek said an investigation as to the cause of the derailment is underway.
