“Having trees in our community makes us happier, it makes it nicer by providing shade,” said Tree Board Chair Peter Howard, addressing North Elementary fifth graders. The students were then tasked to plant five lance leaf poplar trees, provided by the City of Evanston’s Community Tree Program. Mayor Kent Williams was in attendance during the May 3 celebration. “I still remember doing something like this when I was your age,” he said.
