The Evanston High School boys’ swimming and diving team concluded the 2024-25 season last weekend at the 4A State Swimming and Diving Championships in Gillette, finishing in a tie for seventh as a team and turning in some outstanding performances.

Laramie won the team title with 236 points, followed by Cheyenne Central in second with 194 and Campbell County in third, with 169. Kelly Walsh was fourth (156), Sheridan fifth (154) and Green River sixth (151). Evanston and Riverton tied for seventh, with 89.

EHS junior Jacob Olson led the Red Devils with a fourth-place finish in the 500 freestyle, posting a time of 4:58.44; Olson also finished seventh in the 200 freestyle, with a time of 1:51.53.

Junior Hyrum Bell qualified for the finals and reached the podium in both of his individual events, placing fifth in the 100 backstroke (59.01) and sixth in the 100 freestyle (50.70).

Junior Eldon Hogman reached the finals in both of his individual events, as well, finishing eighth in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.35), and 10th in the 200 individual medley (2:13.56).

In the relay events, the team of Hyrum Bell, Eldon Hogman, Max Ison and Brady Schmidt finished seventh in the 200 medley relay, posting a time of 1:45.95

The 200 freestyle relay team of Lance Bame, Michael Adams, Jacob Olson and Brady Schmidt also placed seventh, with a time of 1:38.36, while Jacob Olson, Max Ison, Eldon Hogman and Hyrum Bell finished seventh in the 400 freestyle relay, posting a time of 3:29.12.

Other notable performances included Michael Jackson in diving, who finished 11th, with a score of 3:10.20; Michael Adams, who finished 13th in the 200 individual medley (2:17.95) and 15th in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.05). Max Ison finished 15th in the 100 butterfly (58.30).
