Unable to overcome a slow start, the Evanston High School boys’ basketball team dropped its final non-conference game of the season on its home court, falling to Lyman 35-29.
The loss dropped the Red Devils to 3-9 on the season, with the start of 4A Southwest Quadrant play scheduled to begin Thursday at home against Green River.
“We played a really good defensive game – we held them to 35 points, which is below our team goal,” said EHS head coach Rob Watsabaugh. “They didn’t hit a three on us, which was also very good. I thought we did a good job keeping a couple of their scorers in check. We lacked some offense, which ended up hurting us – we struggled from the free throw line, as well as executing some of our sets. Ultimately, our offense is what hurt us – I thought our defense played great. We have to get some more guys in position, and knowing what we need to do offensively to be successful.”
