CASPER — The Evanston High School boys’ basketball suffered a 62-54 loss to Laramie in the Red Devils’ season opener on Thursday night at the Casper Invitational.
Chandler Anderson scored 13 points, while Lance Evans added 12 and Braxton Hiatt finished with 10.
Evanston (0-1) trailed 13-11 after the first quarter and 26-25 at the break. The Red Devils took a 40-38 lead at the end of the third quarter, but Evanston was outscored, 24-14 in the final period as Laramie, the No. 4 Class 4A team in the boys' basketball preseason poll, pulled away for the win.
The Red Devils are back in action at 7:30 p.m. today against Sheridan. The game will be played at Casper College.
Evanston will conclude tournament play at 4:30 p.m. Saturday against Riverton at Casper College.
