The Evanston High School track and field teams were back in Utah last weekend for the Taylorsville Invitational, with the Red Devils placing 12th as a team, and the Lady Devils placing 31st.

Both teams were missing athletes, as EHS was on Spring Break last week.

Trayten Wiedrich was the Red Devils’ top individual finisher, placing third in the pole vault, clearing a height of 12 feet, 3 inches; he also placed fifth in the long jump, with a distance of 20 feet, 7 inches.

Cassie Barker was the top finisher for the Lady Devils, placing fourth in the high jump, clearing a height of 5 feet, 2 inches.

The EHS track and field teams will head back to Utah this weekend for a meet in Logan.

Red Devils

The Red Devils finished 12th overall in the 33-team field. Paul Baxter continued his productive senior season with a fourth-place finish in the 800 meters, posting a time of 1:59.41, while Jayden Rieker also made the podium in the 400 meters, placing 6th, with a time of 51.90.

Conner Olson rounded out the podium finishers for the Red Devils with an eighth-place finish in the discus (131 feet, 5 inches), and just missed in the shot put, finishing ninth with a toss of 42 feet, 5 inches.

The 4x800 relay team of Aidan Conrad, Justin Moon, Daemon Parks and Paul Baxter finished fifth, posting a time of 8:36.77.

Other notable performances included Luca Flores (16th, 40 feet, 8.5 inches) and Owen Russell (17th, 40 feet, 2.5 inches) in the shot put, 35. Bryan Baxter in the 3200 meters (35th, 11:04.32), Cooper Austin in the 110 hurdles (35th, 20.81) and Zander Hernandez in the long jump (43rd, 17 feet, 1.25 inches).

Lady Devils

On the girls’ side, Top 25 performances were turned in by Kiara Worthing in the long jump (11th, 15 feet, 4.25 inches), Kiernynn Simmons in the shot put (15th, 30 feet, 4 inches), Violet Cook in the 300 meter hurdles (16th, 51.42) and Ava Graham in the shot put (19th, 30 feet, .05 inches).

Other notable performances included Sophia Olivas in the 800 meters (41st, 2:46.12), Penelope Botts in the 1600 meters (54th, 6:12.92) and Beatriz Navarro in the 200 meters (75th, 30.06).
