EVANSTON — A local family tragically lost their 7-month-old son on Tuesday, Dec. 22, in a car accident that occurred on I-84 in Utah. According to a press release from the Utah Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred Tuesday afternoon at milepost 90 in Weber Canyon.
A Honda Odyssey minivan with five occupants was traveling westbound when it spun out of control and rolled. According to the Utah Highway Patrol, three occupants of the van received minor injuries but the 7-month-old child was ejected and sustained critical injuries. The child succumbed to those injuries after being transported to an area hospital.
The UHP release states, “It does not appear that the car seat was used correctly.” That release goes on to state the crash is still under investigation and that names of those involved, including the child who was killed, will not be released at this time.
