Editor:
Like most Americans, I have also been inspired by the amazing stories of rescue in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. What better evidence of God’s love here on earth, and of humans following the simple commandment to love one another — and so clearly without concern for the background, beliefs or choices of those needing help.
None of the professional, military or volunteer workers judged or refused service to anyone based on the makeup of their family. In fact, recently-changed policies even allowed rescuers to include pets in their mission in recognition that, for some people, their pet is family, sometimes their only loved one.
This present-day Noah’s ark drama has presented us with a profound lesson in caring for each other.
