The Evanston High School girls’ basketball team struggled at home over the weekend, losing to Kelly Walsh Friday and Natrona County Saturday to drop to 8-9 on the season.

The Lady Devils will look to get back in the win column Saturday at rock Springs.

Lady Devils 33

The Lady Devils opened the weekend Friday against Kelly Walsh, and played the Lady Trojans tough in the first half, trailing just 19-15 at the break.

The Lady Devils came out for the second half fired up, outscoring Kelly Walsh 10-5 in the third to take a 25-24 lead into the final frame. Evanston’s shots stopped falling in the fourth, however, and the Lady Trojans went on a 15-8 run to edge out the win 36-33.

Cassie Barker paced the Lady Devils with 9 points, followed by six points apiece from Emme Fessler and Annalee West. Maddison Brown added five points, while Kiernynn Simmons and Violet Cook closed out the scoring with four points and three points, respectively.

Natrona County 46, Lady Devils 25

The Lady Devils closed out the weekend Saturday against Natrona County, and struggled to get things going offensively, scoring just 11 points in the first half, and trailing 21-11 at the break.

Things improved somewhat in the second half, though Natrona proved to have too much offense to work with, cruising to a 46-25 win.

Madison Brown led the Lady Devils with nine points, followed by Cassie Barker with seven points and Annalee West with three points. Violet Cook and Kiernynn Simmons chipped in two points apiece.

West led the team in rebounds with seven, followed by Barker with six. Brown led the team in steals with five.
