The original hand-painted acrylic by Shane Stoakes is the “4420 - The Pride of Evanston.” The 4420 was the Evanston Railyard Switch Engine from 1914-1957. Evanston resident Ray Fruits, pictured above, was the happy winner of the Historic Preservation Commission’s raffle held late last month. Evanston Police Chief Mike Vranish was the winner of another original hand-painted acrylic by Shane Stoakes called “Big Jumbo-Evanston’s Own.” Proceeds from the raffles will go toward the restoration of engine 4420.
