The 19th Amendment Anniversary Celebration Committee and the Uinta County Democrats are holding a free barbecue picnic from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Bear Ponds pavilion. At 1 p.m., Evanston Mayor Kent Williams will give a welcome speech, followed by a presentation by Sen. Wendy Schuler on Wyoming Women’s Suffrage movement.
Joining them will be special guest, Mayana (Yana) Ludwig from Laramie. Ludwig will be campaigning for Sen. Mike Enzi’s seat next year. She has a long history of social justice and ecological activism.
This is a time to come together as Wyoming citizens, regardless of political party affiliation, to celebrate Wyoming’s history of being the first state in the nation to give women the right to vote and having the honor to call ourselves the “Equality State.”
