4-H honors youth, leaders during annual achievment program

EVANSTON — Uinta County 4-H celebrated the successes and accomplishments of its members and volunteer leaders at the annual achievement night program recently. It was the final event of the 2016-17 4-H year where youth, volunteer leaders and community stakeholders are recognized for their hard work and accomplishments of the past year.  

The highest honor available to youth is the Wyoming Honors Club where youth have documented, through record keeping, their involvement in community service, leadership, project work and participation for a minimum of seven years. Inducted into the Wyoming Honors Club this year was Colter Camphouse. He joins a group of youth in reaching this honor from all across Wyoming.

Cloverbud certificates were presented to youth ages 5-7 who participated in this year’s program. Recipients were Mason Aimone, Sawyer Aimone, Hailee Antonino, Weston Brown, Leah Clegg, Mckelle Eggett, Haylee Firth, Jarrett Hill, Shelbee Hood, William Hughes, Wendell Hunolt, Chance Lugibihl, Samantha Lund, David McCoy, Easton Okarma, Logan Parkyn, Leon Simpson and Addelyn Sweep.   

Outstanding leader awards were given to volunteers who have gone above and beyond to help with the 4-H program. This year’s recipients were Crystal Fry, Jaxson Heyrend and Kerri Sabey.

Long-term leader awards went to (five-year leaders) Alex Frame, Christy Houskeeper, Angela Sweep and Cara Trees; (10-year leaders) Glenn Barker, Roni Camphouse, Jerri Crompton, Suzette Morrill, Holly Pfeifer, Nicole Simmons, Robin Whitmore and Georgia Younglove; (15-year leader) Patty Bindl; (20-year leaders) Sherry Bluemel and Rhett Groll.

Members who were recognized for their long-term commitment to the 4-H program received the nine-year recognition award; they included McKinzey Camphouse, Hannah Davis, Sage Fisher, Kelsey Giorgis, Courtney Lester, Meagan Lym, Morgan Sanchez, Ian Siegismund and Aaron Whitmore.

Youth who have met the requirements of participation to receive a Silver Award this year were Degory Day, Hunter Groll, Tayler Groll, Kenyen Muir and Tyler O’Driscoll

Select youth, 13 years and older, who have done an exceptional job in leadership, community service, mentoring and more, are recognized for their achievement with the Outstanding Junior Leader award. This year’s winners were Hannah Davis, Falynn Mackey, Faith Pfeifer and Hope Pfeifer.

Community stakeholders are recognized with the Friends of 4-H Award. These community individuals have supported the 4-H program through a variety of ways. This year’s recipients were: Henderson Meat Processing, Eastern Wyoming College, Williams Field Services and Double J Adventures. 

Each year the Uinta County 4-H Council recognizes the outstanding 13-year-old junior members with an award. Receiving the awards were Korey Chamberlain, Preslee Jones, Kassadee Lym, Rylee Antonino, Clay Cantlin, Taryn Holt, Isabella Johnson, Madison Lupher, Destiny Rasmussen, Caden Sweep and Ethan White.

In the Club Officer category awards were presented to (Club Secretary Award) senior champion McKinzey Camphouse and junior champion Christina Moore; (Club Treasurer Award) senior champion Korrigan Lester and intermediate champion Braxton Sabey.

Youth who have done an outstanding job on keeping their record books up-to-date are recognized with a record-keeping award. They are scored on each section in their book including goals, financial summary, exhibit summary, leadership, community service, participation and self-story. Winning awards this year were Emily Anderson, Eliza Day, Emma Davis, Kaleb Davis, Reagan Eardley, Tietjen Heaps, Jay Hill, Brix Hooten, Stone Hooten, McKayla Lym, Cheznee Mackey, Ashlee McCoy, Christina Moore, McKashyn Salsbury, Blair Sanchez, Cooper Sanchez, Wade Barker, Carson Eardley, McKenzie Lym, Aspen Pulham, Tharyn Barker, Quinnae Brooks, Degory Day and Ian Siegismund.

The final section of awards was to recognize the youth who made achievements at the county contests and judging programs, including events such as robotics, table setting, ingredient measuring, hippology, dog skill-a-thon, livestock skill-a-thon, shooting sports, livestock judging, horse judging, meats judging, produce judging, wool judging, cake decorating, presentations and the food cook-off. There was a great group of youth who showed what they had learned and achieved at these events.
