EVANSTON — The local farmer’s market experienced a lively and unique display of talent on Thursday, July 12. MAT (Music, Art and Theater) Camp participants entertained market customers with music, song and dance. The students of the camp demonstrated the skills they had learned during the week.
There was a small orchestra, a choir, a trumpet duet and a flash mob dance that caused the market attendees to gather around and cheer with enthusiasm.
Chase of the Paw Patrol (Michele Kallas from the library in costume) walked among the crowd, much to the small children’s delight and curiosity.
The flash mob dancers were led by Shaun Parry of New York City, who has been a teacher at MAT Camp for five years. Parry is a Broadway performer of many talents, as demonstrated at the market. He is the president and founder of Promethean Spark International, an organization that does life coaching for impoverished youth. For 10 years, his organization has helped youth in prisons, leper colonies, sex trafficking shelters and others across the world.
The Evanston Farmer’s Market was well attended and the evening ended with the jazz music of the popular concert performers the Will Baxter Trio from Salt Lake City.
