Michael Don Bryant passed from this life to his next adventure on Wednesday, Sept. 11, when liver failure took him from us. He is the son of Robert and Jacquie Bryant of Evanston.

Michael was born the youngest of five children in Evanston on July 15, 1989. He attended school in Evanston and graduated from Evanston High School in 2008.

Michael participated in many sports growing up, including baseball, basketball and track and field.

Michael became skilled at snow skiing, mountaineering and rock climbing. He loved climbing and skiing in the Wasatch canyons, climbing the red rocks of southern Utah and the San Rafael Swell. He also loved mountaineering in the Pacific Northwest and called Oregon home for many years.

Michael was a free spirit and a kind and generous soul. He loved his family, animals, cooking, bluegrass music, and his large group of friends. He also loved experiences over possessions.

Michael was a prolific writer, whose words evoked emotion and vivid imagery for his readers. He also loved philosophical discussions with anyone. He was a constant learner who taught himself to code and build websites.

Michael is survived by his parents; three siblings, Jamie (Collin) Sorensen, Christina (Jeff) Katen and Weston Bryant. He is also survived by two nieces, four nephews and three great-nephews, with a great-niece on the way.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Justin; his paternal and maternal grandparents; and his beloved dog, Mowgli.

Michael’s final wish was to be cremated and have his ashes spread among the people and places that he loved. Though his life was short in years, it was rich in love, adventure and good times.

His family is heartbroken, but will honor his wishes and remember the joy he brought to our lives.

There will be a celebration of life for Michael at the Bear Ponds Community Center and Pavilion on Sunday Sept. 29, from 1-3 p.m. The address is 75 Bear River Dr., Evanston.
