Mary Jensen passed away from pancreatic cancer on Aug. 24, at 2:59 a.m., at Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City. Mary was born in St. Francis Hospital in Superior, Wisconsin, to James Richard McLaughlin and Bertha Nason.

Mary had four brothers, three sisters, and one half-brother.

She is survived by two sisters, Judy McLaughlin of Fridley, Minnesota, and Marlys Machen of Norfolk, Virginia.

She had three children, Rebecca Ooka of Evanston, Lisa Holbrook of San Bernardino, California, and Richard Holbrook of Evanston; nine grandchildren, Amanda Archuleta, Tiffany Hunter, Matthew Elliott, Kathleen Sanchez, Sonrisa Hernandez, Desirae Medlock, Stori Kinkade, Brooke Layher and Endin Holbrook; 22 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary worked most of her adult life as a CNA in nursing homes and hospitals. She took a break from CNA work and became a waitress for many years, but eventually returned to her heart’s passion as a CNA.

In August 2004, she went to work at the Wyoming State Hospital in Evanston. She worked there for nine years and retired in March of 2013.

Mary was a proud member of her Native American tribe, the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe in Minnesota. She had many friends and loved ones who will miss her deeply. Soar with the eagles, Mary, and watch over us all!

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
