EVANSTON — The Evanston Rotary Club will pick up Christmas trees within the Evanston City limits on Saturday, Jan. 6, beginning at 9 a.m. Residents are asked to put their discarded Christmas trees out on the curb no later than 9 a.m. that morning. Christmas trees must not be bagged and tree stands, lights and other decorations must be removed.
Residents can also drop off Christmas trees at the City of Evanston compost site at 591 Union Center Rd., where tree drop-off signs are posted. No other dumping of any kind will be permitted.
The Evanston Rotary Club has sponsored the community service project since 1991. The trees will be stockpiled at the compost site, then chipped and recycled this spring into mulch and compost to be used in city parks and landscape areas.
For more information about city recycling, please call the City of Evanston Public Works Department at (307) 783-6450.
