Janet Regina Sessions

Janet Regina Sessions, “JJ”, mother, wife, sister, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, cousin, friend, animal lover, gypsy and fiercely loyal protector, passed away on Feb. 18, peacefully at her home.

Janet was born Dec. 26, 1945, in Denver, to Regina Ledgerwood and Leonard Roach. After her father passed, her mother met and married Otto Ledgerwood. In 1966, Janet married Pat Haggerty and together they had three children.

Janet and Pat later divorced, and in 1975, Janet moved to Evanston, where she continued to raise her three children. Anyone who knew Janet knows she was hard to keep in one place, but she always returned to her home in Evanston. She met and married her soulmate Randy Sessions in 1996.

God saw you getting tired

When a cure was not to be

So, he wrapped his arms around you

And whispered, “Come with me.”

With tearful eyes we watched you suffer

And saw you fade away

Although we loved you dearly,

We could not make you stay.

A Golden heart stopped beating,

Hard working hands were laid to rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to us,

He only takes the best.

Janet was preceded in death by her mother, Regina “Butchie” Ledgerwood; father, Leonard Roach; her “daddy,” Otto Ledgerwood; and her sister, Janice (Kenny) Walston.

She will be missed dearly every day by her husband, Randy; her children, Shannon Haggerty, Sean Haggerty, Kathy Haggerty (Mikki) and Tyler Hamilton; sisters, Kathy (Richard) Groth and Nancy (Rick) Slaugh; and her stepchildren, Robert “Willy” Sessions and Cody “CR” Randall Sessions. She also lives on through seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to the ARL or your local no-kill animal shelter in Janet’s name.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston.

After the service, family and friends are invited to the Knights Inn for food and drinks.
