Helen Mae Harris Kennedy passed away at Rocky Mountain Care in Evanston, on Sunday, June 3. On May 11, 1929, Helen Mae Harris was born to Abigail Amelia Thompson and John William Harris. She was born in Evanston, the oldest daughter in a family of six children.

Helen had four brothers and one sister. She grew up in North Evanston at 59 1st Ave. Helen graduated from Evanston High School in 1948. Upon graduation, she was employed at Blyth and Fargo until her marriage to John Allen Kennedy on March 31, 1951.

She also worked at the Vagabond Motel after her children were grown. Allen and Helen lived in Randolph, Utah, for a short time then moved to Evanston, were she still resides.

She is the mother of three children, Craig Allen Kennedy (Melva Kennedy), Paula Kennedy and Kevin Shane Kennedy (Vicky Kennedy). She has eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Helen served as a Cub Scout den mother, worked in the MIA organization, the Relief Society organization and she was also a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Helen enjoyed decorating her home, working on crafts, gardening and reading. Keeping a neat and organized home was important to her. Helen enjoyed spending time researching family history and crafting projects. 

Her brothers and sisters are Charles (Kathy) Harris, James (Elaine) Harris, Sidney (Marilyn) Harris, Kenneth (Barbara) Harris, Karen (George) Mote.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, James, Kenneth and Sidne; and sisters-in-law, Kathy and Marilyn.

Thanks to the staff of Best Home Health and Hospice, Carol, Stacy, Samantha, and Sarah as well as the staff at Rocky Mountain Care.

At mother’s request, there will be no services.
