RIVERTON — The Lady Red Devils girls basketball team went 1-2 in Riverton over the weekend at the East-West Challenge and now sit at 5-6 on the season with two more non-conference games left to play.
Sitting at .500 heading into the tournament, the Lady Red Devils needed to pick up a pair of wins in order to get their first winning record of the season. Though the final score of 45-36 in a loss to Laramie on Thursday might suggest otherwise, EHS came just a point shy of getting that winning record.
Neither team ever was able to maintain what could be called control of the game, as Laramie and EHS combined for more than 60 turnovers.
The Lady Red Devils took their first lead of the game a couple of minutes in off a layup by Sarah Frakes. There were four lead changes in the opening eight minutes, but Laramie held an 8-6 lead at the end of the first quarter with four Lady Plainsmen finding their way into the scoring column.
