Mary Ellen Harrell

Mary Ellen Harrell was born Feb. 23, 1940, to James and Ellen Banks in Seymour, Ind. She passed away peacefully at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood, Colo., on July 14, 2013.

At the age of 28, she met and married James Harrell, and they shared their lives together with their 10 children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, and three children, Patrick Harrell, Peggy Miller and Gerald Harrell.

She is survived by children Sharon Mullinax, Pam Tucker, Victoria Blaylock, Charles Tucker, Janine Paintin (Tim), Jim Harrell (Lisa) and Ramona Harrell; her grandchildren, Moriah, Michael, Destinee, Orin, Britney, Cullen, Taylor and Tayrn; and numerous great grandchildren.

Mary was an amazingly devoted mother, wife and friend. She loved her family, and her children were her world, and in many ways she walked through fire for them. Mary was well known for her humble, kind, gentle and patient manner. Anyone who met her was instantly treated as a friend. She enjoyed cooking for everyone, including family, friends and strangers. She was especially fond of baking pies and sharing her wonderful culinary creations with everyone.

Neighbors in her apartment complex relished meals at her home, watching TV together and enjoying one another’s company. She had the uncanny ability to bring people together, put them at ease and have everyone smiling and laughing. Mary is loved greatly, and will be dearly missed.

A viewing was held at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. The funeral was held at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home on Thursday, July 18, at 11 a.m. Interment followed at Greenhill Cemetery.
