Mark Tesoro named publisher

Posted: Tuesday, Jul 23rd, 2013

Mark Tesoro

EVANSTON — Longtime Evanston resident Mark Tesoro has been named publisher of the Uinta County Herald, Bridger Valley Pioneer and Kemmerer Gazette by Wyoming Newspapers, Inc., replacing the outgoing Mike Jensen, who became publisher more than 20 years ago.

Tesoro, who began his duties as publisher July 22, has most recently served as associate publisher and marketing director for the three publications in southwest Wyoming.

“Having lived in southwest Wyoming most of his life, Mark has his thumb on the pulse of the communities we serve,” Jensen said of the appointment, “and that’s a huge plus in his new position. I have the greatest confidence in Mark’s abilities. He brings a lot to the table in terms of professionalism, enthusiasm and job know-how.”

Tesoro, who moved to the area with his family in 1973, when he was 2, and grew up in Evanston, spent more than eight years at the Herald — from 2003 to 2011 — prior to his return earlier this year as associate publisher. He is well-known to local residents and, particularly, area business owners, with whom he has helped develop strong advertising campaigns and successful ventures over the years.

Now, he looks forward to continuing to guide the three newspapers into the future as publisher.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity to be publisher, and to serve the community in this role,” Tesoro said. “I’m also grateful for the knowledge, patience and friendship that Mike Jensen has shared with me over many years. Under his leadership, the papers have covered southwest Wyoming like no other media source.”

“Not only do I consider Mark to be a colleague, but also a very good friend,” Jensen concluded about Tesoro, “and I wish him nothing but the best in his new position.”

Tesoro and his wife, Sherie, have two children — Olivia and Eli — who are currently attending Evanston High School.

Tesoro can be reached at the Herald at (307) 789-6560, via email at mtesoro@uintacountyherald.com, or by simply stopping by the Evanston office at 849 Front St., Suite 101.
