Shirley D. Cox passed away June 8, 2013, at Evanston Regional Hospital.
He was born Sept. 19, 1923, in Woodruff, Utah, to Leonard Henry and Maude Dean Cox. Shirl was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and served in World War ll. During his life, he worked for Ellingford Brothers and P & M Mining as a mechanic.
He married the love of his life, Luella Mae Moore, on June 8, 1947. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Russ (Vicki), Steve (Verna), Joe (Kim), John (Jean) and Shirlene (LuAnn); eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ivy; and a brother, Bob.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son (Leonard); sisters Doris, Ellen and Delora; and brothers Melvin (Med), Leonard D., and Wilfred LeRoy (Chris).
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14, at 11 a.m. at the Elm Street LDS Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crandall Funeral Home, as well as one hour prior to services on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Uinta County Senior Center.
