EVANSTON — The Uinta County Concert Series concludes this Friday, May 3, at 7 p.m. with the Gonzalo Bergara Quartet. The concert will be held at Davis Middle School.

Plan to linger a little while and enjoy some refreshments at a reception after the concert, where Young Musicians, the organization that presents the concert series, will unveil the 2014 Concert Series lineup.

The all-acoustic Gonzalo Bergara Quartet plays a modern variant of 1930s Django Reinhardt-inspired gypsy jazz. Composer and lead guitarist Gonzalo Bergara mixes a cascade of arpeggios with the sounds of Paris and his native Argentina.

His first CD, Porteńa Soledad, was editor’s pick in Guitar Player Magazine, and Vintage Guitar Magazine called it a “masterpiece.”

The Gonzalo Bergara Quartet consists of Gonzalo Bergara on lead guitar, Jeffrey Radaich on rhythm guitar, Leah Zeger on violin and Brian Netzley on upright bass. The music is heavily influenced by Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France, as well as the traditional jazz and music of Bergara’s true home, Buenos Aires.

Tickets can be purchased at the door, or at one of the outlets, including the Evanston Chamber of Commerce, Copy Cats and Jewl’s Card and Gift, Curves in Evanston and in Lyman, the town hall, and Benedict’s Market in the Mountain View. Tickets can also be purchased online at EvanstonTickets.com.

Adult tickets are $10; students are $5. Visit gonzalobergara.com for more information about the Gonzalo Bergara Quartet, or call Carolee Bowen, (307) 679-2348 for more information about the series.
