Community garden meeting planned Feb. 25

EVANSTON — A special meeting to discuss a potential community garden is planned for Monday, Feb. 25, at 5:30 p.m. at the city of Evanston Public Works Building, located at 33 Allegiance Circle, in the conference room.

“We will review the draft site plan for the community garden located within Sunset Park in north Evanston,” a release from the city said. “Sunset Park is accessed from Sunset Avenue south of Hwy 89 North. We will also discuss draft use policies for the community garden. We anticipate offering community garden plots to citizens this coming spring. The city council has previously appropriated monies in the fiscal year 2012-2013 budget for this project.”

The release noted ideas and suggestions submitted by residents during brainstorming sessions last fall have been incorporated into the draft site plan and use policies that will be presented at the Feb. 25 meeting.
