Darwin Henry Cook ~ July 25, 1940 – Jan. 5, 2013

Darwin Henry Cook, 72, passed on Jan. 5, 2013, in Provo, Utah, after several years of ill health.

He was born on July 25, 1940, in Evanston. His parents were Arthur George Cook and Murial Esther Lester. After Darwin was born, the family moved to Green River, where Arthur Cook was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad. Darwin attended school in Green River, and in the summer months went to Hilliard to live with his grandparents, Henry and Esther Lester, where he also helped with chores on the ranch. The summers were the best time of his young life, and he enjoyed being around livestock.

On June 22, 1964, he married Mary Cartman in Green River, and since that time has lived in Utah — three years in North Salt Lake, 36 years in Provo, and the past nine years in Lake Shore.

From this union, the couple had two children, Clinton Henry and Jeana Wyona Cook.

He just received his 50-year Fraternal Order of Eagles Honor, Aerie 2350, at Green River.

Darwin is survived by his wife, Mary; children Clint (Andrea) Cook, and Jeana (Jason) Wilson; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie (Glenn) Smith, of Green River, and Virginia Gatti, of Ruth, Nev.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Virgil and Linda White; and several nieces and nephews.

Darwin was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Esther Cook; sister Esther Shirley; brother Garold Eugene; sister- and brother-in-law Marilyn Cook and George Harold Cook; brother-in-law Bill Gatti; and grandparents Henry and Esther Lester, and William and Harriet Cook.

Funeral services will be held at the Hilliard Ward on Thursday, Jan. 10, at noon., where friends may call 1 1/2 hours prior. Interment will be in the Evanston City Cemetery.

In lieu of flower, please make a donation to Primary Children’s Hospital. www.broomheadfuneralhome.com.
