Harlan Dale Schreiner, 76, of Rock Springs, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at his home. A longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Laramie and Denver, Colo., Mr. Schreiner died following a lengthy illness.
He was born on May 7, 1936, in Minatare, Neb., the son of the late Alex and
Frieda Fox Schreiner. Mr. Schreiner attended schools in Cheyenne and Laramie, and was a Cheyenne High School graduate with the class of 1955. He graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in education in 1959. The Denver Broncos formed their team in 1960, and his position on the team was split end.
He married the former Barbara Jean Scott on May 5, 1956, and she preceded him in
death on July 14, 2003.
Mr. Schreiner taught computers, typing and accounting at Rock Springs High School from 1970 to 1986. He was also the owner and operator of U.S. Tech for many years.
His interests were caring for his grandson, Tyler, and he enjoyed fishing and was an
avid football fan. He was a master at raising roses, and had a beautiful garden.
Survivors include his companion Carloyn Brown, of Rock Springs; his
stepmother, Bernice Schreiner, of Denver; two sons, Ronald Schreiner, of
Butte, Mont., and Warren Schreiner, of Rock Springs; one daughter, Lynne
Schreiner, of Santa Clarita, Calif.; four sisters, Margorie Eldrod, of Casper, Vera Row, of Las Vegas, Nev., Lois Schoefield, of Cheyenne, and Charlene Alber, of Beaumont, Texas; four grandchildren, Tyler Schreiner, Dana Gormley, Amber Schreiner and Alicia Schreiner; four great-grandchildren, Lexi, Kaleb, Walter and Cassity, all of Evanston; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Ed Schreiner; two sisters, Miriam Hahn and Mildred Troyer; and grandson Brandon Schreiner.
Cremation will take place and memorial services will be conducted at a later date.
The family of Harlen Dale Schreiner respectfully suggests that donations in his
