Memorial services for Albert L. Werner, 62, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel, with Joshua Werner and Joannie Cornia officiating. Mr. Werner died Nov. 27, 2012, at Torrington Community Hospital, and cremation has taken place.

Albert was born on June 28, 1950, in Evanston, the son of Merle and Jeanette (Kiddy) Werner. He grew up and attended school at Evanston. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed in San Diego, Calif. He then returned to Evanston, where he worked in the oil fields, and was a concrete finisher.

Albert married Lorraine Mazuc on Dec. 31, 1985, in Coleville, Utah. The couple lived in Las Vegas, Nev., and Albuquerque, N.M., before returning to Evanston. They moved to Torrington in 2000, and Albert worked for Ed’s Digger Service before ill health forced his retirement in 2003.

Albert enjoyed being outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and liked prospecting for gold. He was a past member of the Travis Snow Post No. 5 of the American Legion in Torrington.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, of Torrington; two daughters, Michelle Werner, of Green River, and Kathleen Werner, of Torrington; three sons, Matthew (Miranda) Werner of Morrill, Neb., Joshua (Karly) Werner of Gillette, and Jacob Werner, of Torrington; two brothers, Frank Spero of Evanston, and E.T. (Jake) Jacobsen of Green River; four sisters, Teddy (Bob) Sterling of Allen Park, Mich., Lori Jacobsen, of Evanston, Wyoming, Jeannie (John) Cornia, of Texas, and Joannie (Rodney) Cornia, of St. George, Utah; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Karen Spero.

Those who wish may direct memorial contributions to either the Torrington Senior Friendship Center or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home, and friends are invited to send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com.
