EVANSTON — New York’s Broadway may be thousands of miles away, but Evanston residents won’t have to travel nearly that far to enjoy the best of the Great White Way thanks to the third annual “Hats Off To Broadway,” set for Nov. 6, 8 and 9 at the LDS South Stake Center, 632 Twin Ridge Ave.
The special performances will feature an all-new collection of Broadway tunes and an expanded cast, and is directed by Judy Hatch.
“We’ve got about 40 cast members this year, compared to only about 24 last year,” show producer Jenny Welling told the Herald. “It’s just a fun group of kids and adults — it’s a good mix. We’re trying to incorporate a lot of musicals that we didn’t do any music from last year.”
Welling said the performance will include pieces from Mary Poppins, Calamity Jane, The Sound of Music, Cinderella, Singin’ in the Rain, Camelot and more.
Performances, which are a production of both the Evanston Stake and the South Stake, begin at 7 p.m. all three nights, and are free and open to the public.
“We encourage families to come,” Welling said. “it should be a really fun family event, with good music and dancing.”
