Modified: Friday, Oct 5th, 2012

EVANSTON — An Evanston man died Sept. 29 after unconfirmed reports indicated he had set himself on fire in the parking lot at the Maverik convenience store, at 350 Front Street, Thursday, Sept. 27.

According to log information from the Evanston Police Department and the Uinta County Sheriff’s Office, emergency responders were dispatched to the store about 10:35 p.m. Sept. 27 to respond to what the Sheriff’s log described as an “attempted suicide.”

Jeremy Tyler Long, 24, had been an employee at the Loaf ‘N Jug convenience store on Yellow Creek Road in Evanston.

An Evanston Police Department spokesman, in an email to the Herald, declined to provide additional information about the case, citing departmental policy regarding such incidents.

A celebration of life service has been scheduled for Long at the Bear River Greenway pavilion in Evanston Saturday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m.
