Former Evanston resident Susan Kay Marrs passed away on Oct. 17, at the Circle of Life Hospice House, in Bentonville, Ark.
Susan was born March 5, 1942 in Chicago, Ill., the oldest daughter of Ray and Evelyn Stuermer. After graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder, she lived much of her life in Colorado and Wyoming, where she met her husband of 20 years, Mike Marrs.
While living in Evanston, Susan was the owner and artist in residence of The Glass Cat, a retail shop and teaching studio for art glass. She was well known for her beautiful stained glass works (especially cats!) and her fused glass creations and lamp work beads.
Susan and Mike moved to Bella Vista, Ark., in 2009, where she has been an active member of the BV Presbyterian Church and Choir. For the last few years, Susan, along with her companion cat Winston, has been a resident of Brookfield Assisted Living in Bella Vista.
Susan was known for her love of all animals (especially cats!), outdoor activities, shopping and her wonderful sense of humor and fun. She is survived by her loving husband Mike Marrs, sisters Barbara Rodgers, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Cynthia Jacobs, of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and her son Jonathan LeCraft, of Irvine, Calif.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Susan’s name to the Humane Society.
