Eugenia (Beah) Chen Wing died peacefully of heart failure at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., on June 21, 2013.
She was tbe beloved wife of Wayman C. Wing, and the loving mother of Sandra M. Wing and the deceased Roger G. Wing. During her last year, she was tenderly cared for by her devoted caregiver, Ursula Forster.
Beah was born on Jan. 22, 1921, in Glen Ridge, N.J. She always had a passion for higher education. In 1944, she earned a bachelor of arts degree in physical education at Hunter College in New York City; in 1945, a master of arts in physical therapy at the University of Michigan; and, in 1946, a certificate of proficiency in physical therapy at Columbia University in New York City.
During the World War II years, Beah worked for the China News Service, where she joined New York City’s Mayor LaGuardia in a campaign for War Bonds.
Beah was always her husband’s primary supporter in their personal lives, as well as their business ventures. She loved games and sports, especially golf and tennis, and won several mixed doubles championships at the Amackassin Club in Yonkers, N.Y., with Wayman.
She loved music and the arts, and was an avid piano player. She directed many memorable annual family reunion talent shows and instilled music appreciation in her children.
She was a devoted wife, mother and friend to all. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was always fun to be with, and had a warm, generous heart. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
