Darrell G. Walker, age 87, one of the last of the real cowboys, passed away on Feb. 22 at Rocky Mountain Care in Evanston.
Darrell was born on June 7, 1922, in Lyman, the son of Levi Orsen and Amelia Jane (Grow) Walker. He married Thelma Larue Ames.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Thelma Walker, of Evanston, and his children, sons: Wesley G. (Marie) Walker, of Lyman, Devere G. Walker, of Hays, Kan., and Gary Vance Saunders, of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughters, Denice (Douglas) Kay Varley, of Gillette, Dovee Jo (Mike) Maughan, of Layton, Utah, Darla Riggs, of Oologah, Okla., Leah Durelle Hesting, of Hutchinson, Kan., Betty Angeline Kingston, of Centerville, Utah, Susan Larue Bloomquist, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Carolyn Hester Lott, of Evanston. He is also survived by 40 grandchildren, and 41 great-grandchildren.
Darrell is survived by brothers, Clinton (Merlyn) Walker, and Claude (Bernice) Walker, both of Lyman; and two step-brothers, Guild and Bruce Warren; sisters, Joan Stringer, of Logan, Utah, Mathel Andersen, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Lorna Maxwell, of Sandy, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and thirteen brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held on Feb. 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Funeral services will be conducted on Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. at the Elm Street LDS Chapel with Bishop Glen Defa officiating. Interment will follow services at the Evanston Cemetery.
