Kirby Robbins passed away at his home in West Valley City, Utah on Thanksgiving Day after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Kirby was a loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend.
Kirby was born in Roosevelt, Utah and grew up in Duchesne with family and friends. During his childhood he was an avid hunter and athlete, and enjoyed playing baseball and basketball.
Kirby married Donna Pepper in 1974, and in 1977 they moved to Evanston where they raised their four sons. They later divorced and Kirby moved to the Salt Lake Valley where he continued to work in the construction industry.
In 1996 Kirby married Kim Crossley and they resided in Utah for the remainder of his life.
Kirby grew up with the family business, Robbins Construction Company, then later worked for Granite Construction as a superintendent and did so for 22 years.
During his lifetime Kirby hunted all over the state of Utah and Wyoming with his family, leaving them with their fondest memories.
He also had a love for sports and enjoyed playing softball and watching all sports, and his all time favorite team was the NY Yankees.
He enjoyed camping, four-wheeling and watching and filming deer and elk.
Kirby leaves behind a wife, Kim, of West Valley City; sons, Jarod of Duchesne, Denny, Dusty (Shanna), Matt (Jen) all of Evanston, mother and father, Ronald and Ernitta Robbins, sister Ronda (Don) Bastian, all of Duchesne. Grandchildren are Hazer and Karson Robbins of Duchesne, Hunter, Maddox and Chesney Robbins of Evanston. Stepchildren include Jennifer (Mike) Johnson of Tooele, Cody (Jonna) Crossley of Tooele, Kathy and Kallie Crossley, along with grandchildren of West Valley City.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents as well as a nephew, Scott Reece Branson.
Funeral services will be Dec. 1, at the McDougal Funeral Home. The service will begin in SLC at 10 a.m., and interment at the Duchesne City Cemetery will be at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, an account under Ronda Bastian “Relay For Life” has been established for Kirby Robbins at any Wells Fargo bank and all monies will be donated to the American Cancer Society to raise money for cancer research.
